About US

As we enter into the next year, the ever increasing presence of technology and the role it plays in both our professional and personal lives is something we cannot ignore. It is not only crucial for a successful business to recognize, but to stay ahead of the technological curve. The IBEW Local 300 is therefore proud to present our new website, which we hope will give our members, contractors, apprentices, and community members more access to pertinent information, documents, and undertakings, even when the hall is not open for business. The tools at our fingertips are meant to be aids in furthering not only our careers, but also our community.

Local 300 is a labor union that serves 1,200-plus working Vermonters, and is located in South Burlington. The mission of Local 300 has been the same since chartered in 1939: to serve and represent its members fairly. Local 300 members are employed state-wide at some of the most well-known and successful utility companies, telecommunications, municipal, manufacturing, and construction businesses. Among the employers are American Electric, Ben and Jerry's, Brown Electric, Burlington Electric Department, Central Vermont Public Service, Century Electric, Entergy-Vermont Yankee, E.S. Boulos, Green Mountain Power, Peck Electric, Sherwin Electric, Vermont Electric Cooperative, Vermont Gas, Washington Electric Cooperative, and ReKnew Energy.

Most importantly, IBEW Local 300 members and employers have a rock-solid commitment to a Code of Excellence, fair wages, best-in-class benefits and healthy working environments. That’s what makes our organization special and, without a doubt, that’s the story of the IBEW. Our organization is part of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, which is headquartered in Washington, D.C.  Representing approximately 750,000 laborers in utilities, construction, telecommunications, broadcasting, manufacturing, railroads, government and more, the IBEW has members in both the United States and Canada and stands out among AFL-CIO unions because of its size and highly skilled constituency.

IBEW Local 300 also hosts a renowned electrical apprenticeship program and the state’s first solar photovoltaic training program for electricians, both administered by the Vermont Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee. Local 300 is a member of Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility, the Vermont Building and Construction Trades Council, the Vermont Workforce Development Council, the Vermont Workers' Center and the Lake Champlain Region Workforce Investment Board. These affiliations are testament to the union’s unwavering commitment to fostering an economy that works for everyone.
