LOCAL 300 WORKERS BOOST ‘ENERGY FAIR’

South Burlington, Vt. – (Sept. 18, 2007) – Several International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 300 members recently helped make Green Mountain Power’s 4th Annual Community Energy Fair a success.

On Sept. 8, Green Mountain Power held the popular event at its Colchester headquarters.  Various union employees represented by IBEW Local 300 worked at the initiative, including Kathy Bombard, Debra Bordeaux, Rod Caruso, Jennifer Gestner, Pat John, Dawn Lacroix, George Longway, Donna Lamphere, Ed Rivers, Becky Rochford, George Seymour, Stacey Shusda, Harold Trombley and Lisa White.

"The efforts of more than 50 Green Mountain Power employees – both union and non-union – were critical to the success of the Fair," said Green Mountain Power Manager of Corporate Communications Dorothy Schnure.  "It was a fabulous day. Customers loved all the information about alternative technologies, efficiency and Vermont's energy future."

Local 300 members performed a variety of duties, such as helping patrons take rides in the buckets of utility trucks, directing traffic, distributing event paraphernalia and handing out concessions to approximately 1,500 attendees. One union worker – Seymour – even provided live music with his band, Steel Rail.

“Our constituents continually give back to their respective communities,” said IBEW Local 300 Business Manager George Clain.  “We are proud that so many IBEW members helped at the Energy Fair, as it shows their commitment to both the trade and their employer.”
